2002 Kia Optima Repair Question

What could be the problem

I have a 2002 kia optima when I drive it sounds as if the wheels are skidding. Also its exsessive wear on the tires in front and in back. From about a one mile drive tires were shredded down to wire. What could be the problem

have your front end checked for alignment and front end problems.

What causes the wear on the tires.also how can I tell if there are other issues such as steering and suspension

the wear is caused by the alignmenet being out of whack. If you have hit a curb or something similar it could do that. Or worn suspension pieces that have made it go out of aliignment. Also not rotating your tires every 7000 miles or so.
