Car wont start

My jeep wont start just a clicking sound. When I try to give it a jump it will start but only if I rev up the gas and when I let it idle it dies right away even though the jumper cables are still hooked up

The first thing you need to do is have your battery tested and make sure your battery cables are clean and tight. Once you get that squared away it should start then have your alternator tested.
