No warnings at all. Driving down the highway the Isuzu just went neutral, no gears, no noises, no fluids leaking. When I put in in park you could hear the transmission engaging. The vehicle was in 4wd when this happened. Could it be the transfer case or is it the transmission. Please help!

It sounds like the transfer case went into neutral. If this is an electric shift 4wd, check to make sure the wiring to the 4wd actuator is working properly. This guide can help if there is a transmission issue.

Probably a dumb question, but how do you check the wiring to the 4wd actuator? I'm sure the guy that will be working on the Isuzu will know (hopefullY) but just in case :)

With the electric shift 4wd, there is an electric actuator that shifts the transfer case for you. The wiring harness to it can get damaged. So, check to make sure there are no damaged wires, corrosion on the plug.
