I parked and shut off my car yesterday- at least I thought it was shut off- came back 3 hours later to car with key in hand and the car was running with no key in ignition (honda civic 2002) I was able to put in key and shut off car- have driven car about 5 times since and the problem has not repeated itself. Any ideas?

You could have a failing ignition switch. There was a safety recall on the item some time back and this component tends to fail intermittently.

You need to enquire locally to be sure of the exact cost. OEM switch should cost around $100 and after market much lower than that.
