What could cause such early leakage
I had the front rh axle seal on my 4wd 2002 gmc sonoma 4.3l crew cab about 1000 miles ago and it is leaking again. Could it be put in backward and if so would that create the new leak. Would there be another problem?

The seal might have been installed crooked. It is very important that they are installed flat and square to the sealing surface. There is a special tool to drive seals or you can use a socket of the exact size. If the wrong install method were used, it could have damaged the sealing lips.
