My daughter just had her 2002 Windstar in to the dealer for recall 09S09; possible leaking from Brake Pressure Differential Deactivation Switch (SCDS). The dealer recorded doing a "dry repair". Right after leaving the dealership she got the check engine light on with code P0171 and pending P0174, indicating a lean mixture. Can you suggest what the service tech might have disturbed in the area where he did the recall repair that might cause the lean condition. Ie pulled off vacuum hose, broken vacuum line etc
Thanks,
Mike

The recall has nothing to do with P0171/P0174 unless he disconnected the vacuum hose to the brake booster and didn't hook it back up which will cause the engine to idle rough

Lean fuel condition could be caused by one of the following below:

1. Vacuum leaks
2. EGR and PCV valve.
3. Low fuel pressure.
4. Dirty fuel injectors.
5. Mass Air Flow Sensor.
6. Oxygen Sensor.

Thanks rasmataz. My first thought was that some vacuum line light have been flexed and cracked or something. One thing I do find strange; I thought the SCDS switch was used to turn-off cruise control. My daughters Windstar doesn't have cruise. Was this switch put on all vehicles regardless I wonder?
