2002 Ford Ranger Repair Question

I have no power to the transfer case, or the dash switch any ideas where to start?
There is no power to the transfer case, motor or dash switch. All fuses have been replaced( although they were never bad. Also put a new motor on. If I run power to the motor from an outside source it will engage the 4wd. Not sure where to start and don't want to start throwing parts at it.

start with the switch. it needs power to pass to the gem module before activating the 4 wheel drive.
if you have power, then you need a scan tool to monitor the gem module commands to the 4 wheel drive
