Battery light came on steady, car died. Shop said needed alternator, replaced it belt good, tight. Battery light comes on at redlights, stop signs, at idle. Cleaned terminals. Battery is 1 year old. Drive to work, car wont start until sitting all day. New alternator didnt fix problem but cost alot. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would check for corrosion/high resistance on the alternator-to-battery cable. A voltage drop test would be the best way to determine this. Any reading of.2vdc or higher would indicate high resistance.
