Hello,

It can be the brake light switch which is common but to be sure lets start with the fuses here is a guide that will help with the fuse location in the diagrams below.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Check your brake lights to ensure they are still working, seems like brake light switch may be issue with CC as well as shifter.

The other day some friends and I were out! It started getting late and raining. Have been getting a lot of rain lately. We were trying to get windows up and doors all shut, later it had stopped raining and tried to put windows down and none of them would work. I tried turning on dome light and it would not work. Today I tried using my cruise control, Its not working. I have been trying to trouble shoot, but getting no where. I have checked fuses and relays. All seem to be good. I am stumped as to what to do now? Please help!

Ford has had a lot of trouble with water leaks around their windshields on their trucks. It drips onto the "GEM" module, which is their version of Body Computer. Given the multiple symptoms, I would suspect that module or there is corrosion on the connector terminals.

My horn works fine with ignition off, but will not work with ignition on. Also criuse control quit working at same time, Ford performed recall on criuse control, but did not fix this problem. Ford said it was a separate issue. Any suggestions

Thanks for the reply. Can I get this item at an auto part store, or is it a dealer item?

Out of the blue my cruise control stopped working. Then a few miles later it started working again, when I hit the on and off button and accalerate buttton. I changed out the switch on the master cylinder and didn't help. Now it works sometimes but stays on when it comes on till I cut it off and then most of the time it don't work.

Hi robbys,

Thank you for the donation.

Perform the following to see if you can retrieve any trouble codes.

SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TEST

1. Hold speed control OFF button, and turn ignition switch to RUN position. CRUISE indicator should flash once to indicate successful entry into self-diagnostic mode. If CRUISE indicator does not flash, start procedure over. If CRUISE indicator still does not
flash, repair system by symptom. If CRUISE CONTROL indicator flashes once followed by 5 additional flashes, replace speed control servo/actuator.

2. Release speed control OFF button. Within 5 seconds in entering self-diagnostics, press speed control ON button. Press remaining speed control buttons in the following sequence; ON, RES, COAST and SET/ACCEL. As each button is pressed, CRUISE indicator will flash. Wait until indicator light goes out, then press next button. After sequence has been completed, indicator light will flash to indicate test passed or failed.

3. Immediately after static test has passed, actuator performs a dynamic test by automatically operating throttle.04-.40" (1-10 mm). Observe throttle movement to witness any sticking in cable or linkage. Ensure throttle returns properly. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.

You could have a fault with the brake switch or other controls. Testings would have to be performed to determine the cause.

IT could be a few things. First, have the computer scanned to see if there are any trouble codes stored.

If your cruise control is not working and your not getting any error codes with the self test AND the pedal is NOT moving at the end of the test. Check the Speed Control Deactivation Switch (the plug coming out of the Brake Cylinder going to the servo), if its leaking brake fluid its bad.A $15 part from your dealer and an easy fix, unscrew the old and screw in the new.
