My Ford Explorer makes a high pitch howling sound and thumps at the same time when driving. But the faster I drive the lower the noise. However, when I let go of the gas and the car begins to slow down, the high pitch howling gets louder and thumps harder until I come to a complete stop. When I begin to accelerate, it doesn't start again right away, but it starts again. Any idea what this might be?
