Hi, I have a 02’ Expedition and a friend and I just replaced the timing chains, guide arms and gears. The guide arms were chewed up bad and I think the pieces are plugging the screen in the oil pan. Because of a loss of oil pressure on one side of the motor. This loss of oil pressure is causing a tick in the top of the motor. Is there any way to pull the oil pan and clean the screen if you do not have a cherry picker, or is it even necessary to lift the motor at all? In addition to this question I would like any other recommendations.

Thank you.

15. Disconnect the fuel lines,

16. Disconnect the idle air control motor electrical connector.

17. Position the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube aside.

O Disconnect the upper fitting.
O Loosen the lower fitting.
O Position the tube aside.

18. Disconnect and remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.

19. Remove the four bolts and remove the throttle body adapter.

20. Position the power steering reservoir aside.

O Remove the upper bolt.
O Remove the lower bolts.
O Position the reservoir aside.

21. Disconnect the eight fuel injectors.
22. Disconnect and remove the eight ignition coils.
23. Remove the generator.

24. Disconnect the heater hose.

25. Position the fan shroud aside.

1. Remove the bolts.
2. Position the fan shroud aside.

26. Install the 3-Bar Engine Support Bracket on the engine using the generator mounting bolts.

35. Remove the bolt securing the rear of the oil pump screen and pickup tube.

36. Remove the bolts securing the front of the oil pump screen and pickup tube.

Installation

1. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of old sealant.

Clean and inspect the mating surfaces.

2. Position the oil pan gasket, the oil pan and the oil pump screen and pickup tube together to the cylinder block.

3. Install the bolts.

4. Install the bolt.

5. NOTE: If the oil pan is not secured within four minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or -four minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure may result in future oil leakage.

Apply silicone gasket and sealant at the engine front cover to cylinder block mating surface.

6. NOTE: If the oil pan is not secured within four minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or four minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure may result in future oil leakage.

Apply silicone gasket and sealant at the rear oil seal retainer to cylinder block sealing surface.

7. Position the oil pan gasket.

8. Install the bolts and tighten in three stages, in the sequence shown.

O Stage 1: Tighten to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.).
O Stage 2: Tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. Lbs.).
O Stage 3: Tighten an additional 60 degrees.

9. Lower the vehicle.

10. Lower the engine and remove the Heavy Duty Engine Support.
