Are you referring to the axle nut? I can't think of anything that is 39 mm on the bearing assembly. It is probably the outside diameter of the bearing.

As you can see, I have a 2004 PT Cruiser, I need to know if the left side hub bearing is a job I can handle or not. I've pulled and installed engines, trans, rears, done clutches, etc. The mechanic wants close to 300 for the job, money being tight like it is I'll do it myself if not too difficult.

If you have a good repair manual, and you have done all the other things you mentioned, you will be fine.
