The heat will only work occasionally and not get past warm. The temperature gauge will go from right in the middle to the red and back sometimes for a day or so. We have replaced the thermostat, water pump and radiator (pressure test showed a leak in the water pump and then radiator). System has been bled. No leaks are apparent and is now keeping coolant but no heat and erratic gauges.

Make sure coolant level is full if not pressure check for a blown head gasket. If both heart hoses are hot to touch then check to see if blend door actuator is working. Yu might try pulling the fuse for hvac for 60 seconds with key on and it may reset otherwise it may be bad.
