2002 Chevrolet Cavalier Repair Question

While driving the speedometer fluctuates and then drop to zero while braking,have to rev the engine for it to "catch" to accelerate. Does anyone know

It's a 2.2 base model just started having the problem but does not do it everytime

the vehicle speed sensor may be at fault. a shop with a scan tool can verify the signal failure with the scan tool to rule out the dash failure.

YOU WILL NEED THE SPEED SENSOR CHECKED on the trans for output
