Some times starts and runs then just trys to start

i get in to start it some days and it runs like a dream then on others it will start buy only stay runing if I feather the pedal. But not even if I feather the peadl it still just dies?

When do you notice the problem most? When vehicle has sat overnight? Right after driving for a while and shutting off and then trying to restart? Are there any immobolizer messages popping up on the cluster? Do you smell fuel inside the vehicle?
