Volkswagen Passat Battery Problem

I SEEM TO HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE BATTERY AND TERMINALS WHILE BEING CONNECTED. AS I CONNECT THEM TO THE BATTERY I SEEM TO HAVE A LITTLE MORE THAN NORMAL SPARK FROM THE CABLE END AND POST. TRIED POSITIVE FIRST THEN NEGATIVE AS WELL AS I'VE TRIED THE OPPOSITE. POSITIVE CABLE END GET HOT AND TURNS RED IN SECONDS WHILE CONNECTED. CAR SEEMS TO RUN FINE ONCE STARTED, BUT BATTERY WILL DRAIN COMPLETELY OVERNIGHT. WHAT ARE POSSIBLE CAUSES FOR THIS ISSUE AND WHERE SHOULD I START TO DIAGNOSE THIS ISSUE? THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

best to remove fuses one by one till the draw goes away. then you will at least narrow it down to the circuit.

use an ampmeter in line with the negative cable.
