My VW won't go into reverse it acts like it's in.

My vw won't go into reverse it acts like it's in third. Stick shift seems to be out of line, how do I fix this?

Check under the hood if one of the cables is broken. Have someone move the shifter through all the gears.

You will see 2 cables moving a set of levers. The cable that is not attached, is either broken or the part
that it attaches to is broken.

Post a picture of what you find.
