Found a large split in a vaccum hose car wont start

I have a 01 wolfsburg jetta 1.8 turbo my car smelled funny last time I parked it then when I went to start it it turns over but wont start found there was no oil added some found oil in my plugs cleaned them then noticed it looked like all the oil came out of a large split in my vaccum line taped that up tight as a temp fix til I get a new hose but still wont start im getting codes po171 wich seems like its prob the vac hose and po321 po322 wich is my crankshaft position sensor wich iv been working on but thanks to vw thats a long story cars been running with that so guessing its this new issue po171 but seems like nothing states it will cause the car to not run at all?

Check your fuel pressure. It should be 2.5 bar code 171 is engen running lean.

A vacuum leak can and would result in P0171. If it is a large leak, you would have difficult or non starting issues.

If the crank sensor code keeps coming back, then that's your no-start.

Might have been intermittent in the past, and is a hard fault now.

Otherwise, fuel pumps are common at this age.

Is the lean code "additive" or "Multiplicative"?

- add = vacuum leak after throttle body
- multi = before throttle

If you have not yet cleared the codes, check measuring block 32
for long term fuel trim values and post the percentages here.

The hose you replaced, is it the one on the right of the engine valve
cover?

That should not keep the car from running.
