2001 Toyota Avalon Engine I think

My toyota was making a tapping noise when I pressed the gas the it got louder n I pulled over it was taping constantly I drove it to the nearest gas station it then died it won't start back up n I'm not sure wats wrong wit it.

Are you able to crank the engine?
Did you check the engine oil level?
Did the Malfunction Indicator Light showwed prior to engine stalling?
Was the engine overheating?

No it just clicks when I try to start it. The oil is fine also no water is in it n their was no malfunction light or anything that came on n it was not getting hot a friend said I may have thrown a rod but my oil looks good no water n not dark I'm not good wit stuff like this I'm a stay at home mom n hoping it won't cost 2arms n a leg to fix it lol.

Check the battery.
Manually crank the engine to test if it is seized.
