2001 Saturn L200 Repair Question

Heater core hoses installation.
I am installing new heater hoses on a 2001 Saturn L200. I can't get the quick connect locking collar to snap toward the heater core. Is there a trick to getting these to snap into locking position?

They should just snap on to the heater core all the ones i have done snap right on.

Thanks for answering my question. Mine are not just snapping right on. I pushed them onto the heater core pipes as far as they could go, and the locking collars are not moving. What am I doing wrong?
