What is suspension joint nearside front outer?
My 2001 renault laguna estate 1.8 petrol failed mot.it says on the notification of refusal letter, 804: suspension: suspension joint- movement excessive- nearside front, outer.is that the bottom ball joint connecting the strut to the suspension/wheel assembly?

sure sounds like it. if you jack up wheel and pull tire from top and bottom it should have NO play. side to side can indicate steering rod/rack play.
