I've been told that I need to replace the receiver for my remote to work. Where is it located and is this a DIY fix? Also why do you not see much info on line concerning the receiver? I've tried new batteries in the remotes. I've tried synchronizing the remotes and nothing seems to work. I even tried a new matching remote with zero results.

Are you talking about the factory keyless entry remotes? How did you synchronize /program the transmitters?

PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE

AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS

Automatic locking of all doors is controlled by BCM. Four operating modes are available for selection and programming system. System operates in Mode 1 when shipped from factory.
? Mode 1

Automatically locks all doors when vehicle is shifted out of Park with ignition on and unlock all doors when vehicle is shifted into Park and ignition is turned off.
? Mode 2

Only available on models with keyless entry, only driver's door will automatically unlock when vehicle is shifted into Park and ignition is turned off.
? Mode 3

Mode 3 only allows automatic locking of all doors when vehicle is shifted out of Park with ignition on. No automatic unlock function is allowed in this mode.
? Mode 4

Mode 4 disables the automatic door lock/unlock function.
To change operating modes of ADL, enter vehicle and close all doors. Turn ignition on. Press and hold LOCK button on any power door lock switch for 10 seconds. Count number of times chime sounds.
Number of chimes indicates operating mode. Repeat process until ADL mode is set to required position.
BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)

NOTE:
A Tech 2 scan tool and access to GM's Service Programming System on
the Techline Terminal is required for programming purposes. Consult
scan tool manufacturer's owner's manual for other scan tools to determine compatibility and usage.
REMOTE LOCK CONTROL TRANSMITTER

NOTE:
While reprogramming remote lock control transmitter, leave window
down to avoid unintentional lock-out if procedure is not properly
performed.

1.
Turn ignition off. Install scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) on left side of dash at bottom of instrument panel. Enter diagnostics. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE
PERFORMANCE.
2. Select body, model year and body style. Select "REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATION". Select "SPECIAL FUNCTIONS". Select "PROGRAM TRANSMITTERS". Enter number of
transmitters to be programmed (up to 4 total) to remote door lock receiver. Follow instructions on scan tool and press "CONTINUE".
3. Wait for locks to cycle (lock and unlock). Depress and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at same time for 15-30 seconds until locks cycle again. Exit vehicle and verify transmitter works. Repeat
this step for remaining transmitters. When all transmitters have been programmed, exit diagnostics and remove scan tool.
4. If procedure does not successfully program transmitter, reconnect scan tool. Enter "SERVICE PROGRAMMING". Press "REQUEST INFO" key. Select "REPROGRAM EXISTING
MODULE". Follow existing procedure to reflash BCM. Remove scan tool and exit vehicle.
TRANSMITTER RESYNCHRONIZATION

NOTE:
Resynchronization works only if transmitter is programmed.
1.
Resynchronization of transmitter to receiver may be necessary if transmitter is weak, transmitter battery has been changed, vehicle battery is weak, vehicle battery has been changed, vehicle
battery has been disconnected or transmitter has been activated more than 255 times outside range of receiver (23 ft.).
2. To resynchronize transmitter, stand next to vehicle. Depress and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at same time for 7 seconds. Receiver will acknowledge resynchronization of transmitter in
one of two methods. If all doors are locked, receiver will unlock and lock all doors, except driver's door. If all doors are unlocked, receiver will lock all doors. Repeat procedure for remaining
transmitters.
