Mitsubishi Montero Compression Problem

I ran it hot going down interstate and it started slowly losing power and died. I coasted down the off ramp and pulled over. I waiter several hours for it to cool off and upon turning it over I could tell it had lost compression. The engine turned over easily and did not attempt to fire. I am thinking maybe a head gasket or timing chain. Any help is appreciated

I doubt that the timing chain broke. Have you done a compression test on the engine to see if there are weak cylinders?
