Problem: Idles low and dies only after heated up and only when I apply the brakes, misses on occasion throughout once in this state. When it dies it will not start back up until it has cooled off. Also the check engine light has come on but there is no readout when taken in to get diagnosed, three times now. Does not run hot.

Solutions I have tried: Replaced distributor cap and rotor. Replaced spark plugs and correctly spaced. Checked air filter (clean). Visually checked hoses, I do not have any test equipment. Added a cleaner to tank. Disconnected IAC and checked for cleanliness as well as running without it connected. Checked fuses. Topped off antifreeze.

I am not that knowledgeable when it comes to cars but learning comes easily and would like to fix this myself.

This may be a few problems rolled into one, the base idle may be low due to a potential fault with the IAC and as it tends to stall when the brakes are applied this would suggest that there is a vacuum leak in the booster, the loss of vacuum and a low idle may result in a stall condition, unplug the brake booster vacuum line and pug it, see if this stops the stall when brakes applied, let me know what you find.

This will have to wait till the weekend due to the need for a ride if I become stranded. I work a rather odd shift. Thanks for the help in advance.

OK, that's fine, as long as we can get it sorted soon as I am off on holidays soon.
