2001 Mercury Cougar Repair Question

My car started surging, or bucking and when I stopped you could smell antifreeze, but the oil light came on. Before this started, you could hear a squeeling noise, like a hose or something. What could this be?
I would like some advice on what the problem might be. My car just started bucking and acting like it did not want to go. When I stopped, the oil light came on, but you could smell the distinct odor of antifreeze.

check oil level. how was engine temp? check coolant level. top up, try to start and if starts look for leaks.
