I can drive my moms car down the road it shifts fine for about 30min somtimes longer then it will start messing up the gears shut it of and then start it back up then its fine for about the same legth of time

I would suggest getting the problem checked by a transmission specialist.
Get a scan done and see if there are any trouble codes stored. Let me know if there are any.
