When trying to put fuel in my gas tank, the gas pump keeps shutting off as if the pump senses a full tank. I literally can not add more than.50 cents in gas without the pump shutting off. This happens at multiple gas stations so it is not a faulty pump at a gas station. This problem began simultaneously with the check engine light coming on. The car also sputters when idling. Do you have any idea what might be causing this problem or what might be bad.

Tank purge system has proberbly developed a fault and the tank is not breathing so the fuel backs up and triggers the pump nozzle, get a scan done to see what the check light is indicating, check what codes are set.
