I have a 2001 hyundai accent. I just put $900 into it two weeks ago. Sunday the timing belt broke because the valves are bent. My mechanic has told me that it would be $2400 to put in a used engine with 50k miles on it with a brand new timing belt and a 6 month warranty on the parts. Would you do this? or would you use the money to buy a used car?

Based on the mileage, I would question if it's worth the repairs. Check KBB.com to find the vehicle's value and then based on the vehicle's condition and the compared to the book value, make the decision.
