Had a new fuel filter fitted last wk, ran ok for a wk then spluttered backfired and limped home fri night, sat morn coughed n spluttered then started ok ran really well for 100 miles then died now wont start at all.

When engine could not be atarted, you need to find out what is missing and continue from there.
