2001 Ford Explorer Starting Vehicle Engine Will Idle Keep Running You Give

When starting the vehicle, the engine will not idle. It will keep running if you give it gas. This problem is intermittant and does not do it everytime. Also, if you can keep the engine running, either by driving it or feathering the gas, it will then then idle okay.
