We have a 2001 astro passenger van. The Starter won't kick in. It acts like the car is in gear, and when the key is turned to start the dash lights dim, radio goes off, a click under the dash, but the starter wont engage. Wife had van out in the morning, came home, and when she tried to take it to work, this happened..Any ideas where the problem may be?

sounds like a starter motor failure. you need to test the little wire on the solenoid for 12 volts while in the start position.

Check the battery, have it tested at an auto parts store.
