2001 Buick Lesabre transmission

My Buick stop going forward and only goes backward my husband changed 1 and 2 shift and 3 and 4 shift and a couple more things on the transmission and the Buick work for a week and when back to only going backward now what should we check first or what should be on a check list help thank you
