VOLVO S80 ENGINE PROBLEM
2000 Volvo S80 • 180,000 miles
I have a 2000 S80 2.9L, intermittently while driving, the tachometer, speedometer and engine temp gauges in the dash drop to zero and ABS TRACTION lights in the dash come on, the car runs fine till I turn the ignition off. Once ignition turned off and back on, that's when the engine starts running rough, hesitation, no power, the door locks stop working and the shifter indicator in the dash does not change shifter position letter displayed in the cluster when shifter moved to any other gears, the cluster in the clock stops working and if I let the car rest over night (as if a relay had to cool down) the engine usually starts fine the next morning, all gauges work well for a few days till the next time the entire concern reoccurs. I have a generic scanner which gives me P1633 which is a communication line issue, so far I replaced the MAF with a known good one, I replaced the throttle body and had it programmed by Volvo dealer, I also replaced the ABS module by a remanufactured one.
