My gear change has become very light?

While driving the car today, suddenly, the gear stick felt loose. It changes gear fine, and drives as well as it did when I bought it, but there is no resistance to the gear change. Maybe its nothing, but i've heard a lot of bad things about the polo 1.6 gear box.

I would recommend making sure the fluid in the transmission is clean and full. Also, check the linkage to the transmission for anything that may have come loose.
