The girl I bought my jetta from let the tensioner fall apart which broke the timing belt and bent some valves. We replaced the valves and put the car back in time. Also replaced some broken hoses. The car ran like a gem for a day and a half. I was driving around in a hay field learning to drive it since it is a stick and the check engine light started flashing so I shut it off. There is a random cylinder misfire on cylinders 2, 3 and 4. We checked the coil packs, spark plugs, and ground wires. All good. Any ideas/ suggestions? Please help. Thanks, Jessica!

Hello,

It sounds like the timing might have jumped.
That is what triggering the random cylinder misfire.
The timing belt can jump if there is an issue with the belt tensioner.
Keep in mind that it is recommended to change the tensioner when changing out the timing belt.
Check the timing and verify that it is correct (see diagram below).
