I have a 2000 Jetta VR6, I just had the ECM Software update from the dealer. Now the car will not start. Everything comes on but nothing when I turn the key. Tested the battery and it is good, looked at all connections and they are good. If I disconnect the battery for 20 min and re-connect the car sometimes starts?

Most likely the immobilizer system is causing the problem and seems the software update has caused some problems.

Get back to the dealer to have it checked.

If it's not even cranking, it's not an ECM or Immobilizer problem.

The immobilizer (if it has one), shuts the engine off after the engine starts.

The ECM can't affect a "non-cranking engine".
