Car will miss fire and code on cold start. Once it warms a little it runs prefect.

Check wiring to the coil pack. Swap the coil packs around. Check compression. Check fuel pressure during cold start.

What about fuel pressure? Have you checked the injector to see if it's pulsing properly?

Replace fuel filter and # 3 injector and all is dong well. The presser is good. Just thought you have heard of this problem before and found some off the wall thing going on with it. It just does it at cold start. With in a few mins. It clears out and run like new.

One idea would be to take it to a shop that has the special VW scanner and either scans live data for free, or doesn't charge much to do so. Live data will show what's going on when the code is set.

You said you'd swapped the coil packs around. What happened when you did that? Did the misfire code follow the coil pack, or stay on #3?

Have you checked the injectors and coils with a noid light to watch how they're pulsed?
