Alternator light stays on2000 v.W Jetta

Alternator light staying on had Battery and alternator both checked had replaced them both about 1 year ago from Napa now light comes on but all the time after both were checked light went off now after a month has passed it came back on!

Maybe they need checking again? Have you tested voltage at battery while light is on? And rev it to see if voltage goes over 15v?

It does not have 15v when light is on and I rev it up!

What is the voltage? Are there any issues with battery running down?

Yes the battery runs down if light stays on! This morning light came on I removed alternator and had it checked was ok batt was ok. Present voltage is 12.5!

Well, it's not charging obviously. I wonder how taking it out and replacing it worked last time? Are the plugs/connections clean?

Cause it sounds like it's not getting the signal voltage to turn on from ignition.

Check the fuse block ontop of the battery. The alternator cable/fuse/fuse block always short out.
