2000 Volkswagen Golf Repair Question

Volkswagen Golf Door Problem
Both of my doors will unlock but i still can not open either of the doors. they both just randomly stopped working and i cant get in to my car. any ideas on what it could be and what to do?

Can you roll the window down using the key in the door handle and then open the door from the inside?
Will not work with manually operated windows of course...
