The check engine light would not go off, so I took my car to the repair shop. I paid over $500 to have a new charcoal filter installed in exhaust system. The engine seems so sluggish, i.E, no pick-up. 2000 Toyota Solara

There is no charcoal filter in the exhaust system. There is one in the fuel vapor system but it rarely has any effect on engine performance
