Replace toyota catalytic converter?

Check engine light resulted in Toyota Dealership diagnosis of replace the catalytic converter. The total price was just over $2,100 including labor.

First, is this a reasonable price? Second, are there alternatives to the dealer that work?

I plan to replace the car this year and am reluctant to spend that kind on money on it for the few months i will continue to drive it.
