I was wondering if anyone knows how to repair a power mirror on my 2000 4 runner it moves up and down but not left to right. I can hear the motor move up and down but not left to right. Iwas was wondering if the mirror glass just pops out to replace the motors or is there another way to change the motors in the mirror. The switch gets power just that the mirror does not move left to right. So I was wondering how to take the mirror apart to get at the motors. Thank

Power mirrors aren't serviceable. But you can check to see if the motor is getting power or not. If you disconnect the mirror harnessand ground pin 1 aply power to pin 4 for left and then apply poer to pin 1 and ground pin 4 that would tell you if it works and isnt' getting power to it. Then it could be a switch the wiring is different between power and non power windows.

Oh I dont know if you remeber I asked if there was anyway to repair the power mirror on my 2000 4 runner and you said that it is not servicable. I took the mirror off my truck and noticed 3 screws on the bottom of the mirror well they would not loosen with a regular phillips screwdriver they where to tight so I tried hitting it with an impact screwdriver and hit it really hard with no luck on loosening the screws os I reinstalled the mirror on my truck and when I got in the truck to move it and adjust the mirror to my amaement it worked I guess all that hitting on the 3 screws must have done something now it moves in all directions. Hey guys keep up the great work and sorry to bother you. I will also let you know how I make out with my power door lock its a little warmer today so im going to try what you said hope I dont screw anything up im not that goo with electical stuff and have a hard time moving around because of my multiple sclerosis. Any way thanks guys your the best.
