Hi I have a 2000 toyota 4 runner and my power door lock does not work. Drivers side door lock. It unlocks with the remote and the door switch but will not olck with either. I replaced the switch on the key lock in the drivers door and the accuater motor in the door lock latch and checked all the fuses everthing is good. But the door lock switch still does not work. You can hear a clicking noise when you press the unlock switch but not in the lock position. And I also noticed that when the key is in the ignition and the door is open you can hear a clicking noise when you hit the lock switch but once the door is closed there is no sound from the switch. Can you help me please. Thank you for your time. Helmut

Check the power lock control module. Seems the locking circuit is not in good condition and the cause could be the relay inside the control unit.

The actual name for the control unit is Body ECU, located at driver side junction box, on lower left side of dash.

Attached is a wiring schematic of the power lock system.

If other doors are working correctly, check the connections between actuator inside door panel and the body ECU. Sometine the wires between door and body panel gets damaged due to repetitive opening and closing of doors over a long period of use.

The other door locks work manually but not with the key or the remote or door swicth. There is no lock or unlock switch on the rear doors just the driver and passanger door.

At the Body ECU, use a test lamp to ground the Brown/White wire, Terminal # 11 and if the lock works, you have a break in the circuit between the body ECU and door switch.

Can you tell me what year 4 runner or toyota fuse box (interior) will work in my 2000 4 runner to get my power door locks to work. I was told that it can be the control in the fuse box.

Year model from 19998 to 2002 should be compatible but you should be looking for the Body ECU, which is pluggd into the fuse box.

Have you performed the test outlined previously?

Yes and checked all the wires to the switch. When I use the key in the passenger side it unlocks and locks the doors but will not work on the drivers side. Oh the remote does not lock on any doors. What does the body ecu look like so I know what im looking for or at. Thanks again for your help.

If it locks and unlock with the passenger side, it should not be a Body ECU fault. You need to check the continuity between the driver door switch and body ECU.

The Body ECU is just a rectngular box that is plugged into the fuse block. Refer to the diagram previous posted for the location.
