2000 Suzuki Esteem Repair Question

Suzuki Esteem Sensor Problem
Engine light is on, did a diagnostic test and it read bad cam shaft sensor, I replaced the cam shaft sensor, and the engine light is still on and it still reads bad cam shaft sensor. What do I do next

first, a code number never identifies a bad part, just a failed system.
lets start with the code number???
