Not turning over

I was driving and lost all power. When tring to restart it will crank but will not turn over. Timing belt replaced 2 years ago. Hear fuel pump kick on and smell gas. What could it be or what to check

Have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs. You can use a known good spark plug or spark tester. Where applicable, pull a spark plug wire loose, place tester in boot, ground metal part of tester to metal part of engine, watch for spark, engine cranking.
