Brake lights stay on?

Today when I got home from work I noticed that my brake lights were not turning off, even though I had turned off my vehicle. Turning it and reengaging my park did not turn the lights off. The only way I could get my lights off so it wouldn't drain the battery of my car was by unhooking my battery. If I plug my battery back in the lights turn on.

Hello, I'm Danny.

It sounds like you are having an issue with the brake light switch. It possibly has failed and is now not completing the circuit to shut the lights off. It is directly mounted to the brake pedal. I've attached 2 pictures below of where its located and what it looks like. The Duralast brand is AutoZone auto parts. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
