MERCURY MOUNTAINEER RADIATOR PROBLEM
2000 Mercury Mountaineer • V8 AWD Automatic • 130,000 miles
I just got done driving my car for about 30 minutes (non-highway). When I got home, the engine was hissing and I could see steam coming from under the hood. Upon opening the hood, the steam and hissing seemed to be coming from the radiator. The engine coolant resivoir is empty and it seems to have all leaked underneath the car onto my driveway (there was no trail of anti-freeze from the street leading me to believe that none was leaking until I came to park in the driveway). No warning lights or temperature gauge readings were off when I reached home. Is this most likely a hose issue? A radiator issue? Should I fill it with water to see if/where the leak is coming? Should I fill with more coolant? Fill the resivoir or the radiator? Should I avoid driving until I can take the car to a mechanic?
