2000 Mercury Marquis Repair Question

Car running rough ******)around 40 mph then stops.digital temp went to max and back down and trac control light came on same time
Have had a SLIGHT misfire (only missing once or twice), but VERY occasional, over last few weeks. However today, on way home got much worse. Then the flashing to max temp thing happened, and the TRAC control light has also come on

According to our reference you need to use a scantool and perform a PCM self test.
