My Mercedes ML320 2000 sometimes it will start with no problem and other times it will not start? What could this be? My mechanic put on diagnois machine and could not find the problem?

Have the fuel pressure tested, check ignition Kva readings on an oscilloscope, is this a cold start problem or hot and cold? With no codes it may be fuel or basic tune related.
