The oil light came on. I took it in and the sensor was re placed. I drove a about half a mile and the light came back on. The car seems to run fine. But the key is hot to the touch. Could this be connected to the oil light coming on?

REmove the oil filler cap and check if there are signs of excessive sludge build up. If yes, you hae a clogged oil strainer which is reducing the oil being drawn by the oil pump.

Problem gas to be addressed asap, failing which you are looking at a possible engine replacement job.
